CBA Announces 2008 Judicial Poll Results

The Cincinnati Bar Association (CBA) has released the results of its 2008 Judicial Poll. Conducted regularly, the judicial poll is a public service project the association undertakes to provide the community with information regarding candidates running for local judgeships on Election Day. This year, a total of 17 candidates are running for various judgeships in Hamilton County; three of those races are contested.

More than 8,000 attorneys in Greater Cincinnati received a ballot from the CBA. The 452 who responded rated only those they have personally observed within the last four years. They rated the candidates in four different categories:

1) integrity, character and objectivity;
2) legal experience, knowledge, and ability;
3) respect for and courtesy to litigants, counsel and witnesses; and
4) diligence.

Candidates were rated “excellent,” “good,” “fair,” or “poor” in each of these four areas. Results of the poll were tabulated independently by the accounting firm Barnes Dennig & Company. See below for a complete listing of CBA 2008 Judicial Poll results..

“Data in this poll is provided by those who know the candidates best: those attorneys who practice before them or who have professional contact with them,” said Philip J. Schworer, 2008-09 CBA president. “We hope this information is helpful to residents of Hamilton County as they head to the polls on Election Day.”
