As the holidays approach and you
are inundated with parties, gift lists,
fruit baskets and scheduling travel plans,
don’t forget about those less fortunate
in our community. There is no shortage
of ways to share the holiday spirit with
those less fortunate, but keep in mind the
YLS’s Giving Basket kicking off later this
November.
The Giving Basket, which is a holiday
staple in the legal community, offers you
the opportunity to make the season a
little brighter for a child. By participating
in the Giving Basket, you will have the
opportunity to select a child and pur-
chase a small holiday gift ($25-30), which
will be delivered in December. When you
select your names, you’ll also receive the
age of the child and a suggested gift. Gifts
can be dropped off at Dinsmore & Shohl
LLP December 3-7.
The Giving Basket has benefitted chil-
dren and adolescents served by ProKids,
the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Cin-
cinnati, and Boys Hope/Girls Hope, and
Hearne House. Last year, demand to give
was so high that we ran out of names. As
a result, we are look-
ing to increase the
number of children
served. Given the
overwhelming gener-
osity of our legal community, we believe
we can reach more children and adoles-
cents this year than ever before. Look for
more details at CincyBar.org.
And to get the holiday partying
started, join us for the Bar Bash, on
November 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Locals
on East Seventh. We’ll be celebrating
the newest members of the Ohio and
Kentucky Bars, and will have the Su-
preme Court of Ohio Lawyer-to-Lawyers
Mentoring Program on-hand to discuss
ways to get involved with its program
that connects new attorneys with more
seasoned practitioners.
