January-Report - page 25

On November 10 the BLAC-CBA Round Table along with esteemed members of
the Greater Cincinnati legal community and supportive sponsors celebrated the 25
th
Anniversary of the founding of the Black Lawyers Association of Cincinnati — Cin-
cinnati Bar Association Round Table. The Round Table is honored to know that they
have been achieving their mission to go forward together.
“We have done many things individually, but those things gain significance and
impact because we have moved forward together. Bridging the racial gap is not the
work of just one side of the gap. The building of bridges needs action on both ends.
We meet in the middle because work is being done from each side. And while the
Round Table has built the structure of the bridge, we have more to do. We need to
make this an open highway, easily crossed either way; so easily crossed, in fact, that it
evolves into a level playing field,” said Judge Timothy Black, Round Table co-convener.
In addition to celebrating the founding of the Round Table, awards were given in
five different categories to those who encourage and support the creation of oppor-
tunities for minority attorneys in the Greater Cincinnati legal community.
