Keating was admitted to practice law in 1974, immediately after graduating from Chase Law School. He was raised in Dayton, Ohio. He has been involved in government service since 1976, having served as a member of the Sharonville City Council from 1976 to 1979. He has been continuously elected as Sharonville law Director from 1980 to the present. He also serves as Assistant Law Director for Hamilton Township and is the legal counsel to Harrison Township. He has served as special counsel to several cities, townships and villages during the last 25 years. He has participated in many litigation matters on behalf of governmental entities, including zoning, constitutional challenges, employment law issues and construction contract issues. Most of these cases were handled from a defense perspective. He has been involved in many civil litigation matters, including probate court litigation and personal injury and medical malpractice litigation. Most of these cases were handled from a plaintiff’s perspective. He has served on many arbitration boards and has acted as a mediator.
He was one of the founding members of the Greater Hamilton Estate Planning Council in the mid 1970’s. He has actively participated in estate planning and probate projects. He has given many presentations to companies and groups concerning estate planning and probate issues. He has given several presentations to elected officials and administrative officials of Ohio’s cities and villages. He made a presentation at the International Municipal lawyers Association Annual Conference on constitutional aspects of sign codes. He has twice served as Chairman of the Hamilton County Local Government Association. He has Common Pleas, Federal District, and Probate trial experience, Court of Appeals experience, and has appeared and argued successfully before the Ohio Supreme Court.
