West’s practice as a trial attorney includes cases in the above practice areas for both plaintiffs and defendants in the state and federal courts of Ohio and Kentucky, including appellate cases in the appellate courts of Ohio and Kentucky, and the Sixth Circuit.
West also served as an Assistant United States Attorney in Kentucky, prosecuting complex criminal cases, including bank fraud and tax fraud, as well as bank robbery, drug and firearms offenses.
West is a Certified Mediator and has mediated many cases in the above practice areas in Ohio and Kentucky. He serves as a mediator for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and has taken advanced training in mediation technique. He currently has a private mediation and arbitration practice d/b/a John A West LLC
His career began at the Cincinnati law firm of Frost & Jacobs, (now Frost Brown Todd PLLC) where he was an associate, and then a partner, concentrating in litigation. He left the Frost firm to join the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Lexington where he was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for 4 years. While at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, West accepted an offer to become a partner in the firm of Greenebaum Doll & McDonald PLLC. With that firm was resident its Lexington office, then in the Covington office, and finally in the Cincinnati office. During his time with the Greenebaum firm, West’s practice consisted exclusively of trial work, including arbitrations, as lead counsel in many litigated cases.
