Community Service
The Community Service Committee plans and implements various projects to serve the community. The committee organizes the Giving Basket program, a community dinner at Nast Trinity, spring mulching for area non-profits, the Junior Judges program for elementary students and other community service projects.
Continuing Legal Education
The Continuing Legal Education Committee plans continuing legal education programs on a variety of topics. The committee assists the CBA CLE director in planning the No Brown Bag series, the litigation skills training, and the new lawyer training.
Mentoring
The Mentoring Committee partners with the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative (CYC) to match attorneys with area students who have expressed an interest in having a mentor. The committee sponsors activities for mentors and their mentees. And award two graduating mentees with a scholarship
Membership
The Membership Committee focuses on membership issues and educates area law students and attorneys on the benefits of YLS membership. The committee sponsors recruitment lunches and membership meetings on topics such as life balance, marketing your practice, and financial planning.
Mock Trial
The Mock Trial Committee organizes the Cincinnati Annual High School Mock Trial competition. The committee solicits attorneys to coach the participating high school teams and to judge the competition, offers training to the volunteer competition judges, and monitors the competition.
Public Relations
The PR Committee communicates section activities and information to the membership, the Bar, the legal profession and the community. The PR committee organizes and develops the content for TodayÕs Young Lawyer, a quarterly e-news publication from YLS.
Social
The Social Committee plans and oversees social events for young lawyers and other CBA members. The committee organizes the Run for Kids, YLS holiday parties and happy hours, the New Lawyers Reception, and the YLS Annual Meeting.
