Planned Giving and Major Gifts
Individual lawyers, their families and law firms have made major gifts to the CBF to support the broader work of the Foundation and some designated initiatives. These gifts can be made either during lifetime or as planned gifts. There are several ways to include the CBF in your charitable goals:
- Legacy for Justice Society: The CBF has established the Legacy for Justice Society to honor those who have made deferred gifts, designated the CBF as a recipient of part of their estate in a will or estate plan or by naming the CBF as the beneficiary of a charitable trust, life insurance policy or IRA. Society members are honored by special recognition in a permanent display at the Cincinnati Bar Center, in the CBA Report and in other appropriate ways.
- Justice Fund: A $15,000 gift to the general fund may be established in recognition of an attorney by one or more contributors (a group of attorneys, associates and family members). Those designated and honored by a “Justice Fund” receive special recognition in the form of a permanent copper-etched plaque and biographical sketch maintained at the Cincinnati Bar Center.
- Designated Justice Fund: A restricted fund, earmarked for a specific project or area of interest may be created with a gift of $100,000. The $100,000 may be achieved through a five-year pledge with an initial minimum gift of $25,000.

Tribute and Memorial Gifts
Gifts to the CBF offer a meaningful way to honor people, past and present, which have played an important role in your life or whose accomplishments have demonstrated dedication to the pursuit of justice and outstanding service to the profession and the public. We will send your designated recipient a card notifying them of your contribution. And, the gift will be listed in the current CBA report unless otherwise requested by the donor.
Gifts of Stock or Securities
Making a gift of appreciated stock to the CBF provides critical financial support for our efforts while giving the donor potentially significant tax benefits. To make a gift of stock or securities, please contact Rene McPhedran at firstname.lastname@example.org or 513-784-9595
CBA Dues Check-Off
Each year, Cincinnati Bar Association members have an opportunity to easily make a contribution through the CBF check off on their CBA dues statements. Thanks to the hundreds of CBA members for supporting the CBF’s efforts by making modest contributions in this convenient manner.
