Immigration Law

The purpose of the Immigration Law Committee is to keep attorneys up-to-date with the latest developments in immigration law and related issues such as I-9 employment verifications. Immigration laws and regulations are perhaps the most complex, and certainly more in flux, than any other body of federal law and regulatory provisions. The Committee will strive to inform members of key issues relating to immigration as they affect businesses and employees on the international, national and local levels.

A Message from the Chair

Bryan Scott Hicks

“In its first year, the Immigration Law Committee hosted various speakers including, a State Senator, representatives from local chambers of commerce and non-profit agencies, a public relations guru and a Congressional staffer.  Immigration law and policy have a dynamic and lasting impact on what it means to be American.  Our committee seeks to examine these larger issues and to provide practical, on-the-ground advice and strategy to our members.  Drawing on the expertise of our current membership and reaching out to other committees, we strive to enrich and broaden the work of our members, while also engaging with our colleagues.  A collegial committee, our monthly meetings provide an opportunity for members to discuss and dissect current developments in the field and share war stories and best practices within the community.  Immigration law often overlaps with other areas and we invite attorneys in other practice areas to attend our meetings, hoping to connect across practice areas.”
