2013 Midwest Regional Bankruptcy Seminar Awards Distinguished Law Students Program Scholarships

CINCINNATI, AUG. 29—The 2013 Midwest Regional Bankruptcy Seminar, a legal education seminar presented by MRBS, Inc., has awarded program scholarships to four distinguished law students from the Tri-State area of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. This year’s recipients are Stephen J. Astringer (University of Notre Dame Law School), Shea Gordon (The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law), Alex Hale (The University of Toledo College of Law) and Patrick J. McIntyre (Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law).  The Distinguished Law Students Program, in its inaugural year, was created to honor law students who have excelled academically and exhibited a strong interest in the bankruptcy and restructuring field, as well as to encourage their pursuit of a career in the field.

The nominees were submitted by their law schools based on the recommendations by law school faculty, achievements, and academic excellence.   MRBS Executive Committee Chairman, J. Michael Debbeler said, “We were thrilled to receive, in the first year of the program, many outstanding nominations from area law schools.  Each of this year’s well-deserving honorees demonstrated a record of strong academic achievement and interest in the bankruptcy and restructuring profession.”  The Distinguished Law Students attended the 2013 MRBS on August 22 and 23 in Cincinnati and received complimentary seminar participation, as well as special opportunities to meet with the MRBS Executive Committee members and Faculty.

The MRBS will issue invitations in the Spring of 2014 to each law school in the region to submit nominations for the 2014 MRBS Distinguished Law Student Program.  For details and other information about the Midwest Regional Bankruptcy Seminar and the Distinguished Law Student Program, please contact Jessica Whyte, CLE Program Coordinator for the Cincinnati Bar Association at (513) 699-1397 or
