CBA Senior Lawyers Division Receives Ingenuity Award

The Ingenuity Award is given to the group which has during the past year, displayed a commitment to strengthening their purpose and function through membership development, successful CLE seminars, creative meeting programming and any other notable accomplishment.

The Senior Lawyers Division has done a phenomenal job with stimulating the interest of its senior lawyer members within the last few years. Between August 2015 and April 2016 the division successfully solicited insightful articles from veteran lawyers, seeking to reveal who they really are, what they want in life, and how they feel lawyers can play a role to help better the community. The efforts of the division landed nine published articles in the CBA Report. Authors of the articles included a diverse group of attorneys representing:  women, men, solo/small firm, large firm, African-American, and judiciaries.

This year, the division planned and executed a successful five-part CLE series entitled, “Practitioner’s Roadmap to Retirement Planning.” To take this retirement series from concept to implementation, the SLD met continuously throughout 2016, and into 2017.  The division recruited 13 speakers, and two exhibitors.

Looking forward, the division is preparing for its new chair Cliff Roe, as the current chair Bill Santen steps down.  The SLD Steering Committee is grateful for the leadership and dedication of Bill Santen as chair, and appreciates the use of his time, talents, and creativity to help strengthen the purpose and function of the Senior Lawyers Division, and the CBA as a whole.
