CBA all-stars Jim Crowley and Jack Greiner presented the CBA’s “Third Annual Baseball and the Law” CLE program in the Crosley Room at Great American Ballpark. Their well-received presentation focused on performance enhancing drugs and, specifically, MLB’s response. Many CLE attendees, some joined by guests, stayed on at the ballpark for the evening to enjoy the Reds win over the Brewers. Thanks to Jim and Jack for another home run!

Sunny skies prevailed at the Cincinnati Bar Foundation’s 32nd Annual Quid Pro Am golfing outing May 14. More than $6,000 was raised in support of the Mock Trial program. The CBF reports that the fund is now just $7,000 away from full funding!

CBA Military Law Committee Ohio Air National Guard Tour (57 images)

Members of the CBA Military Law Committee, as well as other CBA and CBF leaders, witnessed first-hand an Ohio Air National Guard (ANG) refueling mission recently at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base in Columbus. The experience was part of an effort by the ANG to promote Ohio’s Legal Assistance to Military Personnel (LAMP) program, which provides help for Ohio’s military veterans and their families with matters involving criminal, probate, employment, domestic relations, and other areas of the law.

Pride in the profession and a spirit of service were evident in a crowded Westin Hotel banquet room Friday, April 27, as members of the legal community gathered for the CBA Annual Meeting and Luncheon. Tony Reiss was installed as the 121st president, new board officers were inducted, and local attorneys were recognized for their dedication to the profession, their clients and the community. YLS held its last Cookies & Books mentoring session yesterday at the School for the Creative and Performing Arts. Thanks to everyone who participated in this great program this year and made a difference in students’ lives. We’re always looking for more great volunteers, if you want to get involved when school resumes in the fall!

Potter Stewart Inn of Court April meeting (5 images)

More than 100 attorneys, including 23 judges, participated in the April meeting of the Potter Stewart Inn of Court. Judges rotated between 14 different tables during the 90-minute “speed dating” style program to discuss with lawyers issues relating to case management, discovery, trial practice and professionalism.
