This handbook is intended to serve as a guide and informational resource for attorneys who undertake to invoke the Court's appellate or original jurisdiction, as granted in Article IV, Section 3 of the Ohio Constitution. It details the mechanics of perfecting and presenting an appeal, sets forth the standards of review and the decisional process employed by the Court, and examines special pleadings, motions, procedures, and information of particular concern to practitioners; and discusses that illusive topic, the final appealable order. A word of caution: this handbook is not a comprehensive source and is not intended to be a substitute for a working familiarity with the Ohio Rules of Appellate Procedure and the Court's local rules.
