ROBERT J. BYRNE – grew up in Eaton, Ohio, graduating from Eaton High School in 1970. After several jobs and a six-year stint in the Navy, he returned to school, obtaining a BA with Distinction in Economics from San Diego State University in 1984. He then returned to Ohio and obtained his JD from The Ohio State University, College of Law in 1988. He joined the Office of the Attorney General in February 1989 and was assigned to represent the Ohio Department of Human Services in Medicaid subrogation matters. In 1994 he added the Medicaid Estate Recovery program to his area of practice. He speaks often to bar association seminars and other groups affected by Estate Recovery. Over the years he has handled various collection matters for other agencies and the Consumer Protection Section of the Attorney General’s Office. He is active in the AG’s pro bono program preparing advance directives for indigent seniors.
