ONE FOUNDATION. Without your support, the Cincinnati Bar Foundation’s support of local educational and charitable programs wouldn’t be possible. The Founda- tion persevered despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, remaining committed to its mission of promoting justice and changing lives through the law.
We all pivoted and tried new things last year, and the Foundation is no excep- tion. On May 5, we held Raise the Foundation, a virtual, half-hour recorded program featuring 2020 scholarship recipients and past grantees. Immediately following the video, attendees participated in a wine discussion and margarita demonstration with Revel Urban Winery.
Raise the Foundation brought in more than $2,500, the annual Investing for Justice campaign met its fundraising goal of $100,000, and both the William A. McClain Scholarship Fund and Judge Julia A. Stautberg Justice Fund were fully funded. IFJ’s cornerstone event, Rock the Foundation, was canceled last year, but never fear: Rock the Foundation will be back in 2021, in person and better than ever. Details to come – keep an eye out at cincybar.org/foundation.
Another favorite fundraiser canceled last year made its triumphant return in 2021: Quid Pro Am. 26 foursomes participated, and the weather was kind to us, too, with temps over 80 degrees. Brian Redden, Robert Meyers, Brett Renzenbrink and Chris Burger won the day, and golfers celebrated the return to somewhat normal during a social hour following the tournament.
If we have learned anything from the pandemic, it’s that our communities are essen- tial. We’re all in this together, and that’s what makes every bit of support from every individual member of the bar so fundamentally important. Every piece of the Founda- tion is essential.
There are many ways you can contribute to the Foundation’s enduring strength. Donate to the Investing for Justice campaign at cincybar.org/investingforjustice. Encourage folks at your firm or in your legal department to donate $100 today for continued justice in our community tomorrow. Attend the upcoming Rock the Founda- tion. Share our events and news on social media.
