CALL Now Accepting Applications
The CBA is accepting applications for the 2023 Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers (CALL) — an innovative program focusing on practical, ethical and profes- sional issues facing lawyers. Each winter, 25-32 attorneys are selected to participate in the leadership program. By training lawyers in leadership, professionalism and community service, CALL provides impact reaching beyond the bench and bar. Over 500 lawyers have graduated from the program; many of these lawyer-leaders are now populating community courts, nonprogram boards and law-related organizations.
The CALL program is designed to stimulate awareness and evoke reflection. It reminds us that there are no clear paths to follow in leadership. Through self-examina- tion and assessment, each CALL graduate becomes an educator for others in the legal profession and the community-at-large. Sessions meet January – May and the program qualifies for a minimum of 20 CLE hours. Participants must have five years of legal expe- rience beyond law school.
For more information or to request an application, contact Kate Lawrence at (513) 699-1401 or klawrence@cincybar.org.
  Meet Your Match Is Back Thursday, October 6 | 4 – 5:30 p.m. CBA, 5th Floor
There has to be an attorney you’d like to know a little better: an opposing counsel, an attorney who has presented
a CLE, a judge, your mentor or mentee, an attorney who has earned a tremendous reputation over the years for doing really good work. Well, now’s your chance! With Meet Your Match, you have the opportunity to get together with your “match” to talk, eat and share a drink!
The Meet Your Match program was implemented several years ago by the Professionalism Committee. The program began as a luncheon for adversaries to meet and try to make peace with one another, in order to become less confrontational. But Meet Your Match has evolved into something more significant: the opportunity for attorneys to get to know one another better on a personal level, outside of the courtroom and law offices.
As the Introductory Statement on Civility adopted by the federal judges of the Southern District of Ohio states in part: “Lawyers committed to professionalism must do more than avoid sanctions. They must acknowledge in their behavior that common courtesy, respect and personal integrity play an essential role in the administration of justice.”
So please, get out of your comfort zone. Contact a fellow attorney and ask them to join you for appetizers and drinks at the CBA, 5th floor, on Thursday, Oct. 6, from 4 to 5:30 pm.
Thank you for all that you do to make our legal system more professional. Together we can make a difference! Visit cincybar.org for details.
