Resources and Programs in Cincinnati
If you’re looking to start your board training and get set on a board in the next year,
here are some programs I recommend (this list is in no way exhaustive):
Tio with Adrian Tio
at CAC Art Opening
Boardway Bound
(ArtsWave)
Boardway Bound is a multi-
week program designed to
put skilled professionals on
arts boards. There is a cost
to this program, but there
are scholarships available.
The program begins typically
in the fall with the applica-
tions coming out for the next
session in the spring/summer.
Once you have graduated
from the program, you are
typically offered membership
in several boards. You can
join one or a handful. Totally
up to you!

Pro-Bono Partnership
of Ohio
PBPO is a great place to get
involved right away. They
offer free legal services to
non-profits throughout
Ohio. You begin by volun-
teering for a project. Even
if corporate law isn’t your
jam, there are tons of legal
matters that range from real
estate, estate planning, and
more. If you do want to take
on a project, I would recom-
mend starting with a project
where there are resources
available to you, PBPO
will mark on their website
when they have examples.
Besides volunteering for a
project, PBPO offers events
throughout the year that
help folks brush up on their
non-profit leadership skills.
Charitable Workshops
with the Ohio Attorney
General’s Office
The Ohio Attorney Gener-
al’s Office offers live training
for those who might already
be on a board. You can
schedule a member of the
OAG’s office to come to
your board and provide
a workshop. The OAG’s
website is full of helpful
guides and videos for those
who are looking to learn
about their board member
duties.
BOLD through
Leadership Council
for Non-Profits
BOLD has several work-
shops and multi-week
leadership academies that
will help you get ready to
serve on a board. There is
a fee to participate in these
workshops, but they do have
scholarships available.
