The City of Cincinnati Solicitor’s Office is seek- ing to hire an experienced attorney for its Gen- eral Counsel and Contracting sections. Three to six years of relevant experience are preferred along with the qualifications and skills listed below. Responsibilities may include negotiat- ing and drafting contracts of varying levels of complexity, advising municipal clients, draft- ing legislation, and the development of stan- dardized conditional statement templates for frequently used documents. The City’s General Counsel sections offer a collegial, supportive, and team-based practice setting with a variety of interesting work and levels of engagement. The salary will be competitive and commensu- rate with experience and skill set.
Required qualifications:
• Licensed to practice law in Ohio.
• Excellent writing, drafting, research, com-
munication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interact well with elected officials,
city administration, and the general public. • Ability to work in an accurate, detail-ori-
ented, fast-paced, and highly productive
manner.
• Ability to work both independently and
collaboratively.
Desirable skills and experience include:
• Experience working within or closely with a
municipal or other local government orga-
nization or other complex organization.
• Experience with contract negotiation,
drafting, and interpretation on a range of
complex subjects.
• Knowledge of public procurement principles.
• Experience managing outside counsel.
