The new lawyer who completes the most pro bono hours can choose an Ohio legal services organization to receive a $5,000 grant from the Foundation. CPN Legal. Cincinnati-based bookkeeping firm, CPN Legal, continues to lead the charge in their field. Founders Chris and Peggy Gruenke built their business around the idea that no two law practices are the same, espe- cially small firms and solo practitioners. The unique bookkeeping needs and challenges of legal software and implementation are areas that require consistent support. To help accom- modate an increase in client accounts, CPN has brought on three new accountants: Mark Long- bottom, Debbie Willis and Amy Welti; Kate Young as an executive assistant; and Lindsay Lanham as CPN Legal’s new billing specialist. Ohio First District Court of Appeals Annual Report. The Ohio First District Court of Appeals has released its first-ever Annual Report. The First District made significant advancements in 2021, including: 1) Imple- menting procedural changes recommended in a review by the Ohio Supreme Court. The review was requested by the First District’s judges in a proactive move for improvement; 2) Achieving a 100+% clearance rate — resolution of preeix- isting backlog of cases — by the end of 2021. New policies and procedures adopted in 2021 should prevent new backlogs from occurring; and 3) Modernizing technology to allow the public to watch oral arguments remotely via computer. These and more major changes allow the First District Court to operate more effi- ciently and be more accessible to the public. For the full Annual Report, please visit www.first- districtcoa.org.
