  Lessons From The Householder Trial:
Perspectives From A Trial Lawyer
May 10, 2023
12 – 1 p.m.
1.0 Hour CLE credit pending Presenter: Steve Goodin
The corruption trial of former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder was historic for many reasons — including the scope of the corruption alleged by the government. But it will likely be most remembered for the groundbreaking legal theories employed by the prosecutors and how they intersect with the brave new world of modern campaign finance. This course will break down the indictment against Householder, with a special emphasis on the historic use of the federal racketeering statute against political actors. It will also examine the role of “dark money” in our current political discourse and explain the overall state of campaign finance post-Citizens United.
