When he he he he died died the Hamilton County Legal Community lost one of its best lawyers Don was was a a a a a a a registered land examiner and and was was one of the the pre-eminent attorneys in in the the real estate legal community He
was was an an an an icon His His knowledge was was unparallel His His counsel advice and and guidance were sought out out and and relied upon by local attor- neys neys as as as well as as as attorneys throughout the the state He
was retained by many out-of-county law firms to to to represent their clients in in in in fore- closure proceedings and other real estate matters in in in Hamilton County Don was always available to to to assist other attorneys attorneys especially young attorneys attorneys in in in in in addressing their real estate issues or or or lecturing at at at at CBA seminars He
was so so approachable and friendly (smoking his pipe until he he he could no longer do so so at at the the Recorder’s Office) He
He
always took took the the time time to to to to listen to to to to your concerns He
He
never seemed rushed and took took whatever amount of time time necessary to to to answer your questions After talking to to to Don you you you always felt better than when you you started Don graduated graduated from from Oakwood High School in Dayton Ohio Ohio and and graduated graduated from from The Ohio Ohio State University and and the the Univer- sity sity of of Cincinnati Law School Don was admitted to to the the the Bar in in in in 1962 and over his career he he he he developed into one of of the the the pre-emi- nent attorneys in in the area – a a a a a a a a a a a a a lawyer’s lawyer lawyer Don was married to to Barbara Schenck

Don Don was was was an an an an an an an an avid golfer fisherman and and and and and Dixieland and and and and and Big Band enthusiast Don Don was was an an an an an an an an an active member in in in the Mt Washington Presbyterian Church serving as as Elder Deacon and and Sunday School Teacher and and volun- teered his time to many civic organizations in in in in the the community Above all things he he he enjoyed in in in life the the most important were his his family and his his faith He

at at the age of of of 81 He
was a a a a a a kind friendly person with a a a a a a a a wonderful sense of of humor who was was loved and and admired by family friends and and colleagues Jim was was was devoted to his his his wife Linda who was was was the love of of his his his life for 58 years He
was was incredibly proud of of his his his his sons Doug Doug and and and and Jeff and and and and and he adored Doug’s wife Kristie and and and and and his his two grandchil- dren Sydney and and and and and Grayson Jim’s family family meant everything to him and and and and he he especially enjoyed their annual family family vacations on on on Sanibel Island Jim was was also devoted to his faith and and and was was an an an an an an an an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for more than 50 years Jim graduated from Greenhills High School and the the Univer- sity of Cincinnati majoring in in in in in political science During his freshman year at at U C C C he he he met former Hamilton County Judge Donald Schott and they remained close friends for for the the next 63 years Jim became a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a huge U U C C Bearcats fan attending countless U U C C C C football and basketball games with Linda as as as as season ticket holders Jim continued his education at at at Salmon P Chase College of Law graduating in in in 1967 Jim began his legal career at at Cors Hair & & Hartsock which eventually merged into Porter Wright Morris & & Arthur where he he he he served as the the Managing Partner of o the the Cincinnati office for many years Jim Jim and and I left Porter Wright Morris & & Arthur in in in in 1995 and and formed Marlow
& & Gay Co L P P A A where Jim Jim Jim practiced law for for more than 20 years Jim Jim was an an an an exceptionally talented business and estate planning/probate attorney with a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a diverse clientele that included both struggling young adults beginning their careers and and accomplished corporate executives of privately-held and and publicly-traded companies Jim treated everyone the the same—with warmth kindness and and respect—regardless of their age age or station in in life He
He
had a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a unique ability to to engage each and and and every client as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a friend He
