Community Spotlight
Adam Centner, KMK Law Partner, CBF Trustee
For Adam Centner, volunteering with Pro Bono Partnership
of Ohio (PBPO) reflects why he became a lawyer. He wanted to
use his skills to help people solve problems.
“PBPO is an awesome organization,” said Centner. “They
connect local attorney volunteers with local nonprofits to assist
with legal projects, all at no cost to the nonprofit.” This allows
nonprofits to stay focused on their missions while attorneys
handle legal needs.
Centner enjoys the hands-on nature of the work. “I love
being able to use my legal skills and training to help these
incredible nonprofits so that they can focus on their missions,” he explains. “And it is
so much fun meeting and working directly with nonprofit leaders to address their legal
needs and learn about their organizations.”
Over the past few years, Centner has worked with a wide range of organizations
across Greater Cincinnati, including Queen City Book Bank, Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank,
RedBike, Green Umbrella, and Last Mile Food Rescue. The experience makes him further
appreciate the nonprofits and the people involved. “I’m constantly inspired by the quan-
tity and quality of nonprofit organizations in our community,” he says. “Getting to know
the leaders behind that work gives me great hope for the future.”
Through PBPO’s programs like the Nonprofit Legal Checkup, one-on-one legal proj-
ects, and educational resources, they help nonprofits carry out their missions without
using their limited resources for legal expenses. Since 2015, PBPO has provided nearly
$14 million in legal services and education to local nonprofits.
For Centner, the work is rewarding. “PBPO provides a fun way to put my skills to
use, get to know great people, and work on projects I enjoy, all to help those helping our
community,” he says. “I’m certain I get just as much personal satisfaction out of volun-
teering as the nonprofits get out of my help.”
