Understanding Ohio Notary Law and Responsibilities

Allison DeSantis, Office of the Ohio Secretary of State, will discuss the notary law in Ohio and its implications for Ohio attorneys. The Ohio Modernization Act, Senate Bill 263, overhauled Ohio’s notary laws in 2019. This presentation will address the most common violations of notary law; the implementation of the Fresh Start Act (House Bill 263) and future changes to the notary legislation.
                  Secondary Trauma, Burnout, and Self-Care for Lawyers

Lawyers experience depression, anxiety, and substance abuse more than the general population. Could some of this be due to Secondary Trauma and/or Burnout? Lawyers tend
to work long hours and neglect self-care. They are exposed to traumatic material quite frequently, especially in criminal and abuse cases. Learn about both secondary trauma and burnout and the differences between them. Take a self-
care assessment to identify ways to care for self physically, emotionally, spiritually, and socially. Experience two simple self-care techniques and leave with a plan to improve self- care in order to mitigate the effects of secondary trauma and other types of stress that lead to burnout.
Identifying, Preserving & Using Digital Evidence

Learn the use of Digital Evidence and how Digital Forensics is used from an investigative standpoint. This presentation includes case studies of relevant matter types geared specifi- cally to the interest of the audience, information on what Digital Forensics is and what it is not, what information a participant needs to know about the accepted Digital Forensic method- ology to ensure evidence authenticity, admissibility and accurate results that will withstand cross-examination. Includes case studies.
