The Youth Court program would not be able to operate without the funding made available through the Cincinnati Bar Foundation. Youth Court is a local diversion program in Hamilton County Ohio operated
through the Juvenile Court. It is an early intervention program for youth charged with low-level offenses.
A youth court hearing is comprised of jurors, local law students acting as the case attorneys, and local attorneys acting as the judges. The hearing determines the sanction, if any, the youth respondent will receive
for the offense committed. Studies show that teens listen to other teens far more than judges or parents.
Youth Court makes an impact on all the youth involved in the program. Further, Youth Court is a leadership development program for local high school students, and law students. Jurors see how the
criminal justice system works and law students have the opportunity to get on their feet in the court room
and gain their first experiences in client interviewing and advocacy.
