LEGAL BASICS:
Introduction to the
False Claims Act
May 21, 2025 | 12 – 1 p.m.
1.0 Hour of New Lawyer Training Credit (pending)
The False Claims Act (FCA) is the primary mechanism used by state and federal government (often through private citizen
whistleblowers called relators or government initiated investigations) to pursue claims of fraud associated with government
contracts. The FCA is a major enforcement tool and it is a significant source of risk for all companies doing business with the
government. This CLE is designed to provide a high-level overview for new attorneys on the FCA, including 1) an overview of
the statute, 2) a look at relevant legal issues, and 3) best practices in helping clients navigate investigations or litigation.
