Ethics Hotline How-To

  • The Ethics Hotline is staffed by members of the CBA Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee. These attorney volunteers endeavor to assist attorneys in understanding and interpreting their obligations under the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct. The Hotline provides general guidance regarding an attorney’s own prospective conduct. The Hotline cannot provide definitive answers to Hotline questions.

  • The Hotline does not provide legal advice or answer questions of lawThe information provided by the Responding Attorney has not been reviewed, approved, nor formally adopted by the Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee of the Cincinnati Bar Association and reliance thereon is at the risk of the Inquiring Attorney.

  • Hotline calls are discussed at the next meeting of the Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee. Please be aware that no attorney-client relationship is created between the Inquiring Attorney and the Responding Attorney. It is the Committee's policy to maintain confidentiality of all Hotline inquiries. 

  • The members of the Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee look forward to assisting with your questions. Please remember that Hotline volunteers are practicing attorneys and will return your calls in a timely manner.
