SERVICE PROJECT

The YLS Community Service Committee's annual Professional Clothing Drive, collecting donations for Dress for Success and CityLink Center, is running September 18-29. Contribute to their goal of collecting more items than ever! Drop off donations in the CBA's back lobby Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm. For questions regarding drop offs, call Leslie Hamilton-Bruewer at 513-699-1392. PRO BONO OPPORTUNITY

Legal Aid & Catholic Charities are looking to place two Ukrainian families for asylum representation. The commitment is about 20-30 hours of work on an asylum application and then case monitoring. For information or to volunteer, please contact Morgen Morrissette at mvmorrissette@ccdocle.org.

 

PRO BONO OPPORTUNITY

*Seeking volunteer attorneys and law students, with OR without immigration law experience!*
"Mauritanian asylum seekers in Ohio are fleeing enslavement and increasingly violent crackdowns on the Abolitionist movement. Most asylum seekers cannot afford an attorney to help them navigate their cases."--Catholic Charities

WHAT: One-Day Pro Se Assistance Clinics
WHO: Volunteer Attorneys & Law Students

*Volunteers will not be the attorney of record, and their client interaction will end after the clinic day
*Volunteers do not need to have experience in immigration and can be barred in any state

WHEN: Intake & Client Orientation, October 24

*Collect basic information from potential clients and create client files
*Time commitment: less than 5 hours

WHEN: MOST URGENT: One-Day Pro Se Clinic, November 15

*Assist clients completing pro se asylum applications
*Time commitment: about 9 hours, including training and self-paced preparation

 FREE asylum clinic trainings will be held every Wednesday at 2:30 pm E  via Zoom through September 13, with additional trainings available upon request. Volunteers can register for the trainings HERE. For more information, please contact Morgen Morrissette at mvmorrissette@ccdocle.org.
