Building on the Cincinnati Bar Association’s long history of serving the legal community and the public, and its mission to improve the administration of justice, the Cincinnati Bar Association Arbitration Service, or CBAAS, provides binding arbitration services for parties who wish to resolve civil disputes out of court. The arbitration service provides full-service administration of claims in a customer-centered and cost-effective manner. And, it offers a distinguished panel of experienced arbitrators with a wide variety of expertise.

Suggested Language for Arbitration Contracts
The parties agree to submit any dispute arising out of or relating to this Agreement to [a single/multiple] arbitrator[s] in an arbitration administered by Cincinnati Bar Association Arbitration Services pursuant to its rules and procedures in effect at the time the dispute is submitted. Any court having jurisdiction may enter judgment upon the award that the arbitrator[s] render[s]. The parties hereby irrevocably submit to the jurisdiction of the Court of Common Pleas, Hamilton County, Ohio and the United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio, Western Division for purposes of entry of any judgment upon any award rendered by the arbitrator[s]. The place of arbitration shall be Cincinnati, Ohio.

Fees are not based on the amount in controversy. Filing fees are: 

  • Demand - $750 
  • Counterclaim/Cross Claim - $750 

Filing fees are non-refundable and must be submitted when the demand, counterclaim or cross claim is filed. Arbitration Expense and CBAAS fees After a preliminary meeting with both parties, the arbitrator will issue an estimate of fees and expenses. CBAAS will add an administrative fee of 15% of the arbitrator’s estimate. Estimated fees shall be deposited in advance of the hearing, subject to reconciliation after the arbitration is concluded. If the arbitration hearing will take place at the Cincinnati Bar Center there will also be a room rental fee.
