LCBL is an enriching culturally responsive program that involves bringing together lawyers and law students of many diverse backgrounds every other month for five (5) large group sessions and small learning groups. Participants agree to engage in both large and small group sessions and casual get-togethers to share new and diverse experiences throughout the year.

Target Audience

This program is open to diverse members of the Cincinnati Bar Association and local law students who have and aspire to have the ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures.

Details

Lawyers Connecting Beyond the Law (LCBL) is an initiative of the Cincinnati Bar Association that seeks to make our legal community more welcoming and inclusive through the development of personal relationships. Since 2018, this culturally-responsive program has engaged local lawyers and law students in both large and small learning groups over the course of nine months.

LCBL participants from diverse fields of practice and backgrounds build relationships, explore the rich resources the city has to offer, and examine the challenges facing our community directly and collaboratively. This year, LCBL continues the work of building a more inclusive and cross-culturally informed and responsive legal community by exploring the concept of “transformative dialogue.” We will examine issues that demonstrate the need for greater dialogue and communication to bring us together to resolve important issues through facilitated discussions. Participants will have opportunities to take part in onsite visits, large, facilitated working groups, and small discussion groups, sharing stories and life experiences that helped shape their current perspectives on key issues all of us face. LCBL kicks off at the University of Cincinnati Law School on Monday, September 30, 2025, with a meaningful session on the concept of transformative dialogue.

LCBL is open to CBA members and local law students who seek to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures while bettering their community. Please join us for the next LCBL session. Registeration coming soon.
