Lead the Way

“Summer is the season that reminds us to come alive.” It’s a time for new beginnings, a time to embrace our surroundings, and stay engaged. But it’s also a time to open ourselves up to everything around us, whether it be in the city or deep in nature.

So, how does this translate to your membership with the CBA? I want to encourage you to step outside the familiarity of your comfort zone and come alive as you explore something new with the bar association. Whether it is a new committee, exploring a new practice area, experiencing a CLE or engaging in some radical self-care through the health and well-being committee.

Of course, I cannot pass up the opportunity to encourage you to be further engaged in the CBA. The CBA has so much to offer year-round, but for summer, we take it outdoors! From summer happy hours, baseball games, and parades, to interesting section and group CLE topics, the CBA has something for everyone.

What does the CBA have for you?

  • 50 different committees, practice, professional development, and interest groups.
  • 5 sections that provide support at every level of your career: young lawyers, CALL for mid-career attorneys honing their leadership skills, senior lawyers, women lawyers, and health and well-being which we need throughout our careers.
  • Want to build your resume by showcasing your leadership experience? At least 10 of our practice groups have leadership positions available.

Now that I have encouraged you to work, let me also encourage you to rest, prioritize self, and have fun. The ever-elusive concept of work-life balance seems to be magnified this time of the year. Benefits of CBA membership extend beyond membership and leadership in committees and groups. The CBA staff constantly works to add value to your membership. This summer, take advantage of discounts to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden or the Cincinnati Arts Association. Please see the full list of benefits and discount codes on the CBA website under membership perks.

Finally, engage in radical self-care by planning a vacation, taking a long weekend, or committing to getting outside each day for a walk or to enjoy nature.

So back away from the computer! Come alive! Come outside! Come to the CBA!
